Sickness and Medication
We have a responsibility to keep all children safe and healthy.
If a child shows symptoms of illness such as:
- High temperature
- Diarrhoea
- Vomiting
you will be asked to collect your child from nursery.
This helps prevent illness from spreading to other children and staff.
Nursery Illness Policy
Children must stay at home for 48 hours after:
- Starting medication, or
- Their last episode of diarrhoea or vomiting.
This 48-hour period helps ensure children have fully recovered and reduces the risk of infection spreading within the nursery.
Administering Medication
If you require nursery staff to administer medication to your child, please ensure that:
- The medication has a prescription label with the child’s name and date of birth.
- You provide a spoon or syringe to administer the medication.
- The medication has been prescribed within the last 7 days.
- You complete the required medication forms.
These procedures help staff administer medication safely and accurately and ensure we meet health and safeguarding requirements.
Please allow sufficient time when dropping off your child to complete the necessary paperwork.
