Yoga for the Special Child

At Willow Nursery, we offer gentle, child-led yoga sessions designed to support children with additional needs. Yoga provides a calming, structured activity that encourages body awareness, movement, and relaxation in a safe and enjoyable way.

How It Works

  • Child-Led and Relaxed: Sessions are guided by each child’s pace and comfort, allowing them to explore movement, breathing, and stretching in a low-pressure environment.
  • Gentle Movements: We use simple poses, stretches, and breathing exercises to help children feel safe and comfortable in their bodies.
  • Supportive Environment: Sessions are calm and nurturing, creating a space where children can focus, relax, and enjoy the experience.

Our Approach

  • Specialist Yoga Teacher: Sessions are led by a qualified yoga specialist who has supported children at Willow for many years.
  • Permission and Participation: Parents/carers are asked for consent during the settling processbefore their child participates in yoga sessions.
  • Integrated Support: Yoga complements our wider therapeutic and developmental programs, including Sensory Room, TACPAC, and Intensive Interaction, helping children build confidence, resilience, and well-being.
